The viral posts have sparked heated reactions.
A growing number of Korean men are calling for a boycott of the iconic British band Oasis after viral posts on social media platform X (formerly Twitter) highlighted the Gallagher brothers’ perceived feminist beliefs. These calls have sparked a heated debate online, with some supporting the boycott while others mock the idea.
The controversy began after Oasis announced their highly anticipated comeback tour. The tour is expected to visit cities across the UK and other global destinations, including a stop in Seoul (though the exact date and venue remain unconfirmed). Following the announcement, posts urging men to boycott the band quickly gained traction, with several viral tweets amassing thousands of likes.

One widely shared post features a screenshot of Noel Gallagher appearing to make the infamous gesture that some have controversially associated with feminists mocking the size of Korean men’s genitals. Although the gesture seems taken out of context, it has fueled outrage among some Korean men.
Noel Gallagher is a Megalia [feminist online community and movement] supporter. Men, let’s boycott the ticket sales. Let’s show those feminists what we’re made of. [repeated]

In another post that has gone viral, a video clip shows Noel discussing how he came to realize he identified as a feminist. He explains that during a conversation with his wife and her friends, they pointed out his feminist beliefs based on his view that men and women should be treated equally. Noel humorously admits he wasn’t aware of it until that moment.
There was a conversation about feminism, and I was like, ‘Feminism, whatever…’ Then my wife said, ‘But you’re a feminist,’ and I had never thought of it that way. She listed all the reasons why I was a feminist—because I see women as equals and don’t see the difference between the two.

Noel then says, “I didn’t realize I was one until I was badgered by six drunk women around a table, telling me, ‘Actually, you are one.’ And I was like, ‘Oh, okay.’”
Adding to the backlash, some users have also brought attention to an old tweet in which Liam Gallagher celebrated International Women’s Day and acknowledged his own feminist stance.
The viral post by a Korean X (formerly known as Twitter) user asks others to remember that Liam, too, is a feminist.
Liam Gallagher is a feminist too, you haven’t all forgotten that, right? He celebrated International Women’s Day and openly admitted he’s a feminist, so don’t forget that.

Despite the boycott calls, many Korean women and feminists have ridiculed the movement, with some even joking that it would make it easier to secure tickets for the Seoul concert if the boycott succeeds. What are your thoughts on the boycott? You can comment on our social media post below!
